2 Great Pattern Making Books

I've been taking up patternmaking for a couple of months now and have decided to get a good patternmaking book to keep as a reference. To make sure I make the right choice on which one to buy, I did some research.

So far, the top 2 books that keep being mentioned are Patternmaking Made Easy by Connie Amaden-Crawford and Patternmaking for Fashion Design by Helen Joseph Armstrong.

Both books have great reviews, and I am having a hard time deciding which to buy between these two. After all, the books are not exactly cheap (they're both around the same price - a little under a hundred dollars). However, I'm guessing they'll both be awesome anyways so I guess I'll be ok with either one of them.

DIY Tops from Scarves

Check out this cool video which demonstrates how to fashion various tops using just regular scarves. The tops have a slight boho and gypsy feel to them and although I'm not a big boho, gypsy, scarf person, the projects are nice enough to write about. They're super easy to do too. Check out the video below and see for yourself...

Fairgate Flash Form Ruler

I just started studying basic pattern making at the Fashion Institute of the Philippines. One of the materials we were required to buy is the Fairgate Flash Form Ruler. Unfortunately, this wasn't available at any stores locally and the supplies sold in our school ran out quickly.

My friend and I decided to order ours online rather than wait for the supplies in our school to be replenished who know's when. We ordered from Allbrands.com since they were the only website we checked that offered delivery to non-US addresses. The order was placed last Friday, September 12 and amazingly, I got the package when I got home today! Talk about a speedy delivery; I highly recommend this website!

I've been looking into studying fashion design for sometime now. However, I wasn't really that familiar with any fashion schools here in the Philippines. Good thing though that I know my way around the internet. I was able to dig up more than just a couple of choices for my fashion school hunt...

There you go. I'm not sure which one's the best, but I think it's worth noting that SoFA is hosting Project Runway Philippines.

Cute skirts from Etsy

I was browsing Etsy just now when I saw this very cute gypsy skirt, pictured below. It's not really my personal style and all but still, it looks really adorable right? I love the pink ribbon detail! What do you think?

Here's another skirt from the same seller. This one is more like a fairy balerina skirt if you ask me... very cute and dream-like indeed!

Project Runway Season 5 Episode 2: Fave Looks

For episode 2 of Project Runway season 5, the models got to pick out the fabrics for a "green" cocktail dress! It was interesting how several models opted to buy the same brown shiny fabric. Perhaps they were taking the term "green" too literally? Anyway, here are my fave looks for the second episode:
